Spring has finally arrived, and with it comes not only warmer temps and longer days (!!!) but also, at long last, the tripped-out fashions first previewed on S/S 22 runways last fall. '60s and '70s-reminiscent designs adorned with psychedelic patterns and whimsical mushroom prints are everywhere this season, with big names like Stella McCartney, Brandon Maxwell, Jaden Smith, and others offering mind-altering apparel to meet this truly mind-bending moment, one in which a “psychedelics renaissance” is said to be occurring thanks to renewed interest in the mental health benefits of magic mushrooms and other trippy drugs.
Like Alice before them, designers seem to have let mushrooms (or whatever their inspo may be, *wink, wink*), lead them down the rabbit hole, and the resultant garb is perfectly suited for Wonderland—or any trips, internal or external, you plan on taking in coming months. Below, shop some of Shroomboom’s favorite psychedelic styles this season.
Jaden Smith recently revealed that he designed his newest collection for MSFTSrep specifically to be worn while tripping. “When you’re in that sensitive space, the wrong shirt can ruin things,” he told Mr. Porter. This cheerful sweater vest is anything but "wrong," and does indeed seem perfectly suited to fostering good vibes.
This trippy tee was made in collaboration with buzzy London-based artist Ed Curtis, who drew inspo from the modern club kid aesthetic.
La Detresse founder Alana Hadid told us her newest designs for the brand are inspired by "the trip everyone's taken inside themselves over the last two years, as well as the things you can do to go on a metaphysical trip, like mushrooms," and it definitely shows.
This comfy unisex cotton sweatshirt is adorned with what might just be the perfect mushroom print. As Proper Mag recently put it, there’s “not mushroom” for improvement here.
This stunning silk scarf dress made news when it hit the runway last fall, and for good reason; its unique silhouette and whimsical prints feel like a breath of fresh air for fashion.
Who doesn’t need a psychedelic-inspired cashmere cardigan adorned with the most famous band logo of all time?
You’re definitely living your best life if you have nearly $400 to spend on a scrunchie, and we’re super jealous given how absolutely adorable this one is.
C’mon, could this be any cuter?!?
McCartney went a little mad for mushrooms this season, so if you’re into her designs you might want to check out the entire collection—this is just one of a few dresses onto which she spread their spores.
Have you ever seen a psychedelic print this sexy? The styling of this trendy print on a timeless slip dress silhouette is *chef’s kiss* perfection.
This Mr. Porter-exclusive, cartoon-print cashmere sweater absolutely nails the sophisticated-whimsy vibe du jour.
These pants are comfortable enough to put the WFH set at ease but flashy enough to peacock around in when it’s time to hit the streets and for that, they should be applauded (and quite possibly might be, when worn IRL).
Told ya Stella was obsessed with all things shroomy! This trippy tank tee is among our favorites of her fungi-inspired designs.
While it can be purchased separately, this relaxed fit button-down top is actually part of a matching set that will set you apart from literally everyone else.
This hypnotic mini dress is *literally* everything, with psychedelic swirls designed to accentuate your curves and warp the mind of whoever's watching you walk across the room.
Jaden nailed it again with this bold psychedelic-print sweater, which could be the perfect piece for cool Coachella nights or long trips in the desert after dark.
This grass-green knit dress is giving UFO vibes, so if you’re hoping some alien life form will come and take you away from these not-always-trippy-in-a-good-way times, maybe slip this on as a signal.
This cutie is the perfect spring sweater, with short-sleeves, pastel hues, and optimistic energy.
For those desiring to signal their interest in 'shrooms more subtly, this tiny sterling silver pendant might be the perfect pick.
This classic cut button-down is the perfect wear-everywhere spring and summer shirt for any and all genders.
It's no coincidence that this sexy-yet-comfy mini dress, also from Alana Hadid's La Detresse line, is named after the designer's queen-of-the-scene sister; it's undoubtedly poised to become the it girl festival dress of the season.
